MS_Children's_Museum_Literacy_Garden-2Mississippi Children’s Museum: If you’re looking for a fun and educational experience, look no further than the museum Jacksonians named the best museum in the city. Recent exhibits include a jungle gym that mimics the human digestive system (smells included), a giant Scrabble board with cushy letters, and an underground area that allows children to explore the ground beneath their feet. Last year, the museum added the Literacy Garden to promote reading.

The Jackson Zoological Park is home to over 125 species and nearly 338 animals that provide glimpses of native wildlife from around the world. Tour the grounds on the Replica Steam Train. Take a spin on the Endangered Species Carousel. Have lunch at The Elephant Cafe or Simply Down South Cafe. Enjoy a cool break at the Splash Pad and lounge area. Cap it off with a souvenir from The Trading Company.

clinton2Clinton Nature Center: Located in the heart of Clinton, The Clinton Community Nature Center conserves our land and historic features while developing a place for the appreciation, enjoyment and study of nature. The beauty of nature and the natural curiosity of children fuel an experience that is both enjoyable and educational. The Center features miles of beautiful, shaded walking trails, Play Forest, Splashing Frog Water Feature, amphitheater, native plants, wildlife, and Price Hall. The trails are open 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. until sunset.
